Practical tips for choosing, customizing, and printing paper.
Print at Actual Size
In your print dialog, select the same paper size as your PDF and set Scale to 100% or Actual Size. Turn off Fit to Page if it changes the grid dimensions. When exact measurements matter, check a known grid spacing after printing.
Choosing Grid Spacing
Use 5 mm squares for detailed plotting and compact notes. Choose 1 cm squares when you need more room for sketches and measurements. For labeled axes and signed coordinates, use Coordinate Graph Paper instead of an ordinary grid.
Margins That Work With Printers
Leave room for your printer's non-printable edges. If a line is cut off, increase that side's margin and preview again. Custom margins control the page layout, but they cannot make every printer print to the edge of the sheet.
